When you succeed, people will keep a firm eye on you. And at some point, they will try to pull you down out of envy and jealousy.
For people like me who have been around, it is a reality. The fact is that some people hardly care about you and your well-being. They don’t give a damn about your needs, including your family.
The main goal is to pull you down. Sadly, there are a lot who have succeeded.

PEOPLE CAN’T STAND YOU SUCCEEDING
A person succeeds because he works hard. He enjoys his work which reaches the point of being fun.
Unfortunately, there are some who do not share the same sentiment. In their eyes, it should only be them who should be in the limelight.
Do you want to know how low they get? They resort to making gossip and amplify each misstep you do.
Sadly, these are the same people who I initially looked up to. It was them who inspired me. Unfortunately, they don’t want you to follow their footsteps and achieve the same. That is the sad reality folks. Trust me. One is former undersecretary, another a host and journalist – both who I respected until recently.
PEOPLE WHO DON’T WANT YOU TO GROW
But beyond these two people, there are more. There is one who initially did not believe in Zoom casting and interviewing people, particularly during the pandemic. It was not only when I started bringing in people did he understand the concept.
Eventually, I tried to do it on my own. To him, it was a threat. He was getting gifts and perks but never shared it with any of us helping his network grow. That included shoes and food that came from our guests.
When we all left, he took exception. It was an act of treason on his end and felt he was the one who made us. In fact, I got screenshots where he cursed me and wanted to destroy me.
Given these, was I wrong in venturing out on my own? Do I deserve to be cursed and prevented from moving ahead independently.
BEAUTY WON’T BEWILDER ME
There is also the case of a female host, one of the gorgeous friends I previously had. Although pretty, it was clear that her attitude was something that I would not get along well with. Regardless, I kept the friendship, knowing it won’t go beyond that anyway.
I never tried to court her. I know that I am out of her league. But being called “unfair” when I needed to make a decision being her superior was something I could not accept.
Regardless and being a professional, I still vouched for her even if she disrespected me.
Looking ahead, I know that she will be spreading bad things about me. She will say I am weak and a bad leader. Well after years of friendship and consultation, this formally ends any relationship we had.
JOIN THE LAUGH CLUB WISHING FOR MY FALL
These four individuals are the latest members of the club who laugh at me and wishing that I fail. Most of the people there are from media while others are former friends who never grew up.
Their names are not important anymore. I know who they are and, if they get to read this, they will know who they are.

TURN YOUR BACK, WALK AWAY
Being old already, I would rather turn my back and walk away. It is useless trying to get even at these kinds of people. I have better things to do such as attend to my family.
The reality in life is that only a few people deserve to be in it. There are people who are friends with you if they can benefit from you. If not, you are useless to them and better off dead.
So while most are laughing or maybe cursing you, the best thing to do is turn your back and walk in a different direction. That way, their laughter and wishes become more silent as you try to figure out how to get your life in track – without them of course.
